Manchester Metropolitan University Summer 2025 Internship Programme a Success

We were delighted to have worked with the Careers and Employability Service at Manchester Metropolitan University this summer to take part in their internship programme, which sees current students completing around 9 weeks of employment with a local business to help them gain practical experience, build skills and explore career interests, while bringing fresh perspectives to local companies and increasing their productivity.

Our successful candidate Sarah took on the role of Social Media and Marketing Intern and brought a truly international perspective to our team, having lived in three countries. Originally from the United States, she had spent five years working and studying in Germany before settling in the UK, where she is currently working towards her MA in Publishing from The Manchester Metropolitan University.

With a passion for translation, travel and the creative and literary industries, Sarah has been an ideal addition to our team. She took on the responsibility of supporting our team across sales and marketing functions, helping drive business growth through lead generation, client outreach and strategic marketing initiatives as we look to expand into the German, French, Swiss and Austrian markets.

Our onboarding process was similar to that with our in-house team, in which we completed thorough training, then discussed ways of working and what we each wanted to get out of our time together. For Sarah, this included practicalities such as gaining a better understanding of social media marketing and how we keep track of our customers. For us, we were predominantly looking for support with lead generation and some fresh ideas.

Throughout the internship, Sarah worked on outreach strategy, creating social media content, SEO and keyword research, lead research and email marketing. We demonstrated how Computer-Aided Translation tools work, explained our CRM system and had a lively Q&A with the entire ecls team where Sarah got to ask us her burning questions about the industry and our experiences so far.

It has been a mutually rewarding experience working with Manchester Metropolitan University in this way. We’re incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity and are looking forward to continuing to work with Sarah once her studies have been completed this autumn.

Please feel free to get in touch with us as always at info@ecls-translations.com if you have any language requirements and we'd be more than happy to help.
